Aims and Scope
Current Chinese Science: Smart Materials publishes original research articles, letters, reviews/mini-reviews and guest edited thematic issues on various topics related to smart materials. Articles may be focused largely, but not exclusively, on contributions from China.
The scope covers contemporary and future smart materials e.g. alloys, polymers, self-healing, photovoltaic materials, shape memory alloys, dielectric elastomers, smart inorganic polymers, thermoelectric, magnetocaloric & magnetostrictive, photomechanical, halochromic, chromogenic, chemoresponsive, thermoelectric, piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials. Coverage also includes applications to sensors and actuators and other smart material systems applied to a range of disciplines.
Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman FRS

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Kings College, University of Cambridge (1968), has 1235 international publications in several fields of organic chemistry including 349 books published largely by major U.S. and European presses. He was elected as Fellow of Royal Society (London)
(2006) and won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999). Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was appointed Academician (Foreign Member) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2015). He won the “Friendship Award of China” (2014) and was conferred the highest scientific award of China, the International Science & Technology Cooperation Award, by President Xi Jinping (2020). He was bestowed with the International Scientific Corporation Award (2014) and the “Einstein Professorship” by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) (2013). He was conferred honorary D.Sc. by University of Cambridge and appointed an Honorary Life Fellow of Kings College, University of Cambridge. The Austrian government has honoured him with its highest civil award (“Grosse Goldene Ehrenzeischen am Bande") (2007). He is Professor Emeritus at University of Karachi, Pakistan.
